Crazy about Knitting   Projects for March 2020

                              Crazy about knitting

Welcome to this months knitting club and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to us.  We have been going 6 years this month!!    We hope you have enjoyed your time with us and will continue to do so.

This last month we have sent chicks, hats, gloves etc. to the soldiers deployed on active duty abroad.  We delivered the penguin jumpers, pet blankets and pouches to the vets in Melksham who were very grateful.  Although the main campaign has now closed, they are working with Longleat who are in close contact with wildlife groups in Australia.

The chicks are ‘flying’ out raising lots of money for charity.  Thank you so much to everyone for knitting them.

Enjoy your coffee and CAKE!!

                             Projects for March

1) We have found another charity that would really appreciate our knitting.   Twin Blankets is a charity set up by parents who have lost their baby.  The idea behind it is that babies are wrapped in the blankets. Then when the time comes one blanket stays with the baby and the other is kept by the parents who find it a great comfort.  The charity’s aim is to help provide Twin Blankets to other families who are in the same situation.

‘Twin Blanket’ sets consist of two identical, handmade, knitted blankets either

Tiny - size 12” x 12” or Small 18” x 18” any baby colour and any pattern but no holes on the pattern.

2) Operation Orphan would still like hats, mitts, gloves, cardigans, jumpers for 3 – 18-year olds as well as big blankets.  We are well on the way to arranging a collection from them with all your lovely knitting.

3) Mission to Seafarers – are still wanting Balaclava’s, Hats, Fingerless Gloves, and Scarves.

4) Easter chicks have finished but the summer fayres are approaching so anything for us to raise money for The RUH would be great.  We are runny low on the wonderful novelty T-Cosies, both KnitBots and Dinosaurs have sold out!

5) As usual we are still wanting Pink Flowers for Evie’s Gift, Bonding Squares for Southmead Hospital, Teddies and Puppets for RUH Bath and AgeUK Innocent bottle hats for AgeUK Wiltshire.  Here’s a reminder of a web page with lots of fun hat patterns on http://www.thebigknit.devonartist.co.uk
